Tom de Freston - Oils

My practise seems to gravitate towards recurring figural motifs, figures falling/dancing or floating between realms. Occasionally a protagonist will appear.  These figures are drawn from a wide range of sources and dealt with through a layered and organic painterly process. Themes of ritual, love, lose, transcience, tragedy and transcednece seem to emerge. The specific figures seems to have a desire to become conveyors of more general conditions of humanity. Humour occasional enters to lighten the mood.

My inspiration is drawn from a long history of painters, a select group of poets and numerous contemporary image makers.
