Margaret Wade - Textiles
My work is inspired by visual experiences reflecting aspects of the environment, personal travel and family. The abstract and representational hangings and two dimensional panels are developed using layers of dyes, paint, fabric and thread and cutting back areas to build complex textured and colourful pictures which celebrate the vitality of light, movement & colour.
Influenced by the work of Klimpt, Paul Klee and more recently Emile Nolde, following a visit to an exhibition of his ‘unpainted paintings' some years ago – (these were explorations of colour without form produced whilst he was held under house arrest).
CV
Practiced as a dentist whilst working as a practicing artist. Over the years I have developed my practice working with small groups of artists, tutored by Neil Shawcross both Northern Ireland and qualified artists in England.
